Yes, Port Townsend has an active recovery community full of young people. The Alano club has five twelve step meetings every day and is located in downtown Port Townsend within walking distance of our Learning Center.

Gray Wolf Ranch provides all transportation to and from jobs, school and community service projects. Residents are dropped off and picked up by a Gray Wolf Ranch staff member in one of our vans. We also have a fleet of bicycles available to residents for transportation and recreation.

For daily life at Gray Wolf and in Port Townsend, we recommend that you bring:

  • Three to five pairs of pants

  • Shirts, short sleeve and long sleeve

  • Two pairs of shorts for summer

  • One bathing suit

  • Street shoes / athletic shoes

  • Sweaters / sweatshirt

  • Warm jacket

  • Rain jacket and rain pants

  • Warm hat / gloves for winter

  • Jogging / workout clothes (Optional)

  • Toiletries

You’ll need to provide your own:

  • Fast-drying shorts (one pair), not cotton

  • One T-shirt (may be cotton)

  • Camp shoes (lightweight sneakers)

  • Sun-hat (ball cap)

  • Lighter

  • Toiletries (tooth brush, floss, etc.) No heavy items!

The following items can be purchased at the Trek Center, or you can supply your own. (For questions about what any of this gear is, or where to buy it, contact us.)

  • Wool socks (three pairs)

  • Liner socks (two pairs)

  • Polypropylene long underwear (tops and bottoms)

  • Warm hat

  • Warm gloves and/or mittens

  • Sunglasses

  • Sunscreen

  • Water bottle

Please note: NO COTTON. Cotton is the most effective material for cooling the body and takes forever to dry when it gets wet. With the exception of a T-shirt in summer, cotton is a poor choice to bring into the backcountry.

The following items are supplied at no charge. Or, you may bring your own equipment if it is approved by your Trek Leader.

  • Clothing (rain jacket and pants; wind shirt and pants; fleece jackets, vests and pants; headlamps, hiking boots)

  • Equipment (backpacks, sleeping bag, sleeping pad)

  • Group gear (tents or tarps, stoves, cooking gear, water purification tablets, hand sanitizer, repair materials, first aid kits)

You are welcome to bring:

  • Alarm clock

  • CD player or radio

  • MP3 player

  • Personal photos

  • Musical instrument

  • Books

Yes, smoking is allowed in designated areas. You must be 18.
